week thirty-six

We bought a fancy car!!

Mama and papa are gonna be riding in style with this little baby :) We're pretty stoked about it. Just need to install the carseat and we're good to go!

In other news, we went for our thirty-six week ultrasound on Thursday and saw those big chubby cheeks again. Our ultrasound tech also confirmed 100% that he's a boy. It's weird that with 6 ultrasounds this is the first time they've been sure!

We got a really clear look at his little face, and it's pretty surreal that the next time we see him will be in person.

What's new this week:
  • I've got a bit of a swagger now…just a little waddle going on.
  • Still drinking all of the grapefruit juice I can find, but it gives me heartburn so that's not fun.
  • Pelvis feels like it's splitting in two. Also fun.
  • Planning to photograph the nursery this week since it's now all finished!!

Yesterday we did our maternity shoot with Melissa and I am verrrrry excited to see the images :) So happy that we included Weezy in a few pics…it's our little family of four!

So far my hospital bag consists of:
  • six pairs of socks
  • a box of SweetTarts
  • the video camera

I need to work on that this week :)

week thirty-four

I have been chugging 100% grapefruit juice like it's my part-time job.

As of Wednesday, I'll be 35 weeks pregnant.

Here's what's new and exciting:
  • I had two shoots this week: one civil ceremony wedding and one family session. I'm officially DONE until the baby comes -- except for a fun creative project next weekend.
  • My teeth are stupid and I have to have a root canal this week. Super fun. The dentist insists I won't be able to stand being on my back for 2 hours straight…regardless of how much I try to convince her that I'm not your ordinary pregnant girl.
  • I've been enjoying a little bit of trashy TV lately, all the while keeping in mind that once the baby comes there will be very little TV watching in our lives!
  • We still haven't bought an SUV, but hopefully that happens this week.
  • The only thing that reminds me that I'm pregnant is a little bit of pelvic discomfort, and the occasional stabbing pain that finds me while I'm grocery shopping.
  • We went to our first prenatal class (one of three), free from the City of Ottawa at the library. Got to see a couple naked ladies giving birth in a video…so that was strange.

We have gotten into the habit of reading side-by-side in bed each night. I'm currently reading a book called How to Have Your Second Child First, and Ryan's reading something about how to calm a distressed newborn. I love this ritual and I hope it continues :)

In general, life is wonderful! I'm not ready for my pregnancy to be over… even though we're certainly ready for the baby to hurry up and get here.

the february blur

Week thirty-two was a combination of sickness (just a cold), and party prep (for the shower). Thankfully the confetti didn't judge me for blowing my nose constantly.

What I learned during this week:
  • I have the best husband ever. He goes out on a hunt on Family Day to find a place open that sells this magical iced tea that seems to make me feel better.

Week thirty-two also meant another ultrasound! This time I brought my mother-in-law with me and we had a lovely time watching the babe squirm around, and we even saw him stick out his tongue!

Also, apparently the way to a pregnant girl's heart is to offer her a complimentary chocolate croissant.

Here's the story: I ordered 50 french macaroons for the baby shower from this AMAZING shop, and when I picked them up on Friday morning, I honestly thought I'd be walking into some guy's house where he made them in his kitchen. But to my surprise, it was a full on beautiful bakery!

I cannot wait to take a family adventure there for a breakfast pastry sometime soon. I'm obsessed.

With the sickness over, I found a new love of life and did a TON of baby prep. Washed all the clothes in this delicious smelling detergent specially made for baby's sensitive skin (yum), organized everything by size, and unpacked all of the lovely gifts from the shower.

The chalkboard is done! Excited to change this up all the time once the baby comes :)

Organization in the den really helped make me feel balanced this week. Nesting, nesting, more nesting.

Oooh AND I have to mention that Beans has discovered the art of pasta-making and is currently obsessed with his new toys (the Kitchenaid pasta attachments). When asked where he came up with this idea, he replied:

I kind of get the impression that when the baby comes,
you might not be making all of my food anymore…

Haha, probably accurate.

We spent the most wonderful weekend together in Tremblant. It was basically a combination of:
  • great conversations with friends
  • walks around the village
  • icy maple syrup on a stick
  • cooking for our roomies
  • enjoying the last weekend-away for a loooooong time :)

SIX WEEKS LEFT!! And we're almost ready :)

P.S…how on Earth is it already MARCH!? Feb went by in a blur…
