jillian is two months old!

Sweet, sweet Jilly...

I plan on gushing about you for the duration of this entire post. You're just the loveliest little girl I could have ever hoped for. Your big blue eyes are really starting to focus in on people, and occasionally we can even get a little smile out of you!

Let's talk about sleep. You're getting better by the day, and more consistent as well. Usually you're swaddled up tight and in your crib with the whales playing on the sleep sheep by 9:00pm. We don't tend to hear from you until about 2:30am, when you want to guzzle down a bottle, have a burp, and resume your sleeping. We always wish the second stretch of sleep was as long as the first, but we get to see your little face again at about 5:30am. At this point, it's about 50/50 whether you'll go back to sleep in your crib, or prefer to cuddle up with your dad in our bed.

Let's move on to food. You eat a lot, and you're pushing through the feet on all of your 3 month jammies, but like a true lady, you'd never let anyone know that you enjoy eating. You toss and turn your head when the bottle comes close and you really make us work at it. You're a messy eater. We end up putting a kleenex underneath your neck to save your clothes.

Some days are full of sleep and happy eating, other days are tough on both fronts. But that's the baby phase, and we're trying to enjoy this quick moment when you're still little, but secretly we're excited for you to get bigger and show us more of your personality.

Little girl, happy two months!

I have to end this post with an outtake, because it's too good not to :)

cottage weekend

After six weddings back-to-back, it was wonderful to find myself with a free Saturday :) Ryan and I packed up the kiddos and headed to The Kelly Cabin on Friday afternoon. We were blessed with the most perfect weather imaginable.

It had been awhile since Cooper's last cottage visit, and now that's he's running around all over the place, he was really able to explore.

We barricaded the steps down from the deck and left the front door open all weekend and Cooper came and went as he pleased. It made it very relaxing for us :)

We made an early dinner on Friday, lit a fire inside, and turned in early.

On Saturday morning, our friends Chris and Gen arrived. Perfect, perfect weather apparently means man-tank for Chris.

We sat around doing crosswords as a group, playing with the kids, and soaking up the sun down at the dock.

Like I said, Coop came and went as he pleased. Here he is at the front door making a quick appearance before giggling and running away.

Jilly spent lots of time in the rocketship :)

And after a long day and lots of fun outside, Cooper curled up on the couch with his snooze pig and Jilly's soother.

Fresh air and a weekend off, it was good for the soul.

jilly is one month old!

One whole month of days with you, miss Jilly. You're getting big FAST, way faster than I remember with your big brother! Maybe it's because it's my busy season, so I don't notice you growing while I'm hard at work.

Or maybe you're just eager to be a big girl and do fun stuff like your bro. Regardless, you're getting cuter and cuter by the day. Your hair keeps getting lighter and your feet are getting stronger. It seems like we finally have your tummy feeling happy with the sensitive formula.

I snapped a few photos of you just in time before you developed an ugly little rash on your cheeks. You were seriously unphotogenic for a solid week... But now you're cute again so all is well.

Love you, baby girl!

maternity photos (our life before jilly!)

So happy to be posting photos from our maternity session with Kymberlie Dozois, which took place just five days before miss Jillian joined our family.

I am in love with this snapshot into life as a family of three. I love how Cooper is being totally himself (a little serious in the face and a little silly). I love the location Kym chose, which ended up being just around the corner from our new home. But mostly, I love how much I got to cuddle up with my husband...

This is the Cooper that Ryan and I know and love. I know how hard it is to capture a little one's true spirit in a photo, but Kym...you did just that.
